Château Montrose

Château Montrose is one of the five Grand Crus classés of the Saint-Estèphe appellation and one of the two Saint-Estèphe ranked 2nd Growth.

The vineyard covers 95 hectares and it is mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (63ha). The estate produces 3 wines: Château Montrose, La dame de Montrose, and Le Saint-Estèphe de Montrose.

The estate is almost self-sufficient in energy thanks to low energy buildings, 3,000 m2 of photovoltaic panels and geothermal energy.

On Friday 25 October 2019 a few private customers of Wine Gallery had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful estate and have dinner at the Chateau.

Château Tronquoy Lalande Blanc 2015 (Magnum), Le Dame de Montrose 2010, Château Montrose 2005, 1996 and 1970 were served at the dinner.

The ceiling is not made of wood but of cement which has been hand-painted so that it looks like wood.
Cement needs no treatment that could contaminate the wine.
