Visit and tasting at Vieux Château Certan with private customers of Wine Gallery in Avril 2019

Located in the heart of the famous Pomerol plateau, Vieux Château Certan has been owned by the Thienpont family since 1924. Nowadays the Château is managed by Alexandre Thienpont with the help of his son Guillaume.

The estate consists of 14 hectares in one continuous plot planted with 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Approximately 45,000 to 60,000 bottles are produced each year. The château produces a second wine named Gravette de Certan.

On Monday 15 April 2019 a few private customers of Wine Gallery had the pleasure of visiting this estate.

Georges Thienpont, who bought Vieux Château Certan in 1924, wanted to know who was buying his wine without asking.
In France in the 1920’s pink colour was in fashion. So, he decided to put a pink capsule and collar foil on his bottles so that he could easily and quickly recognized his wine in a cellar.
