Château Le Gay, Pomerol
Château Le Gay spreads over 10.5 hectares in one unique holding. The vineyard is composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The age of vines is 40 years on average. The estate takes its name from its location as the “lieu-dit” is called Le Gay.
In 2002, the cellar was entirely reconstructed and in 2014 the new constructions allowed micro-vinification of 100% of the plots in new oak with slower and softer extraction.
Château Le Gay average production is 20,000 bottles (based on a yield of 25 hl/ha). The estate also produces a second wine, Manoir de Gay, whose average production is 21,000 bottles (based on a yield of 35 hl/ha) and is produced with young vines planted in 2006.
Château Le Gay is part of the Péré-Vergé vineyards group which includes Château La Violette, Château Montviel and Château Tristan in Pomerol, Château La Gravière and Château Moulin La Gravière in Lalande de Pomerol and Bodega Monteviejo in Argentina.
