Twomey by Silver Oak Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley
Twomey was created by the Duncan family in 1999 as the outlet for everything Silver Oak deliberately does not make. Where Silver Oak is Cabernet Sauvignon and American oak alone, Twomey works with Merlot, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc across a range of California sites, with its own winemaking team and its own logic. The name comes from the family — Twomey is the maiden name of Ray Duncan’s mother — and the label has grown into a serious estate in its own right, with wineries at Calistoga in Napa Valley and Healdsburg in Sonoma.
The Sauvignon Blanc is made in a style that looks to the Loire rather than to New Zealand: fruit is picked early to keep acidity high, whole-cluster pressed, and fermented cool, with a portion raised in neutral barrel and concrete to build texture without adding oak flavour. The aim is precision and length rather than overt tropical fruit. The result is taut and mineral, with citrus and white stone fruit over a saline, gently creamy mid-palate — a Napa Valley white built for the table.
